Employed in the synthesis of α,β-unsaturated methyl ketones, isoxazoles, and bactericides. Bis(tributyltin)oxide may act to have antimicrobial activity against a variety of bacteria. It is an organotin compound used as a fungicide and molluscicide, particularly in wood preservation.
