QUICK LINKS

Azithromycin dihydrate is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. Azithromycin dihydrate is effective against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, as well as atypical pathogens. The mechanism of action of azithromycin dihydrate involves the inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. This results in the prevention of translocation of tRNA, leading to the disruption of protein synthesis and ultimately bacterial cell death.
