QUICK LINKS

Andrastin A is a mycotoxin that is also an protein FT (farnesyltransferase (PFTase)) inhibitor, anti-cancer compound, and directly interacts with P-glycoprotein and inhibits the efflux of antitumor agents in drug resistant cells. it is believed to act as an inhibitor of several different enzymes, including cyclooxygenase, lipoxygenase, and phospholipase A2. Additionally, it is believed to act as an inhibitor of the enzyme nitric oxide synthase, which is responsible for the production of nitric oxide in the body.
