Adenovirus Antibody (DV4-1A) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects the Adenovirus protein of Adenovirus type 2 origin by immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-Adenovirus antibody (DV4-1A) is available as the non-conjugated format. Adenoviruses are non-enveloped icosahedral viruses belonging to the family Adenoviridae, characterized by double-stranded, linear, non-segmented DNA genome. The Adenovirus structure allows for efficient infection and replication within host cells; the icosahedral shape provides stability and protection for the viral genome, facilitating delivery into host cells. The viral capsid contains 252 protein subunits, which enable attachment to and penetration of host cells, initiating the infection process. Understanding Adenovirus structural integrity is essential for developing targeted antiviral therapies and vaccines, as this knowledge can inform strategies to disrupt viral lifecycle. Adenovirus infection in humans typically manifests as respiratory illness, but depending on the serotype, can also lead to gastroenteritis, conjunctivitis, cystitis, and rash. With approximately 47 different Adenovirus types identified, and about half associated with human diseases, infants and children are particularly vulnerable to these infections.
