4,4′-Di-tert-butyl-2,2′-dipyridyl is a bipyridyl compound that is widely employed as a ligand for transition metals in the preparation of catalysts and functional materials. 4,4′-Di-tert-butyl-2,2′-dipyridyl has been utilized in the preparation of electron-transfer mediators for light-active materials, and in the preparation of stable Pd(IV) monoaryl fluoride complexes for the study of Pd-mediated aryl-fluoride bond formation.
