3′-Deoxycytidine is the cytidine analogue of cordycepin and is a selective inhibitor of pre-ribosomal RNA in HeLa cells. It has been found to be a reversible inhibitor of DNA replication in RNA accumulation. Like hydroxyurea, 3′-deoxycytidine inhibits DNA synthesis without preventing entry into the S phase of the cell cycle.
