3-Acetylpyridine adenine dinucleotide phosphate sodium salt is an analogue of NADP, Monosodium Salt (sc-202724). It is known that NADP is biological essential in a variety of biochemical pathways such as lipid synthesis, cholesterol synthesis, and fatty acid chain elongation. Plant studies indicate that NADP functions in chloroplasts in the light reactions of photosynthesis. Furthermore, NADP is a coenzyme which functions as reducing agent. Alternate studies suggest that 3-Acetylpyridine adenine dinucleotide phosphate sodium salt can be reduced by benzyl alcohol in the presence of aldose reductase. Also 3-Acetylpyridine adenine dinucleotide phosphate sodium salt can replace NADPH in the formation of enzyme-ligand complexes, since the analog resembles NADPH. However the velocity of the reaction is greatly reduced when 3-Acetylpyridine adenine dinucleotide phosphate sodium salt replaces NADPH.
