(1,5-Cyclooctadiene)(methoxy)iridium(I) dimer is a catalyst for preparation of heteroaryl fused indole ring systems, borylation/suzuki-miyaura coupling, metalation-suzuki cross-coupling procedure for synthesis of heterobiaryls and biaryls. Also used in tetraborylation reactions, ortho-silylation of aryl ketone, benzaldehyde, and benzyl alcohol derivatives via C-H activation. Perhaps the most useful application is highly regio- and enantioselection asymmetric hydroboration.
