QUICK LINKS

Tween-20 is a hydrophilic, non-ionic detergent surfactant that is suitable for the isolation of water-soluble membrane proteins. It is used in cosmetic and personal care product formulations as a fragrance ingredient, surfactant, emulsifier, and wetting agent and is employed in a variety of products including skin fresheners, skin care products, skin cleansing products, makeup bases and foundations, shampoos, permanent waves and fragrance powders. Tween-20 is recommended for ELISA and immunoblots. It is used as an additive in food, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. Tween-20 is also known as Polyethylene glycol sorbitan monolaurate, Polysorbate 20, Sorbimacrogol Laurate 300 and Polyoxyethylenesorbitan monolaurate.
