Rent1 Antibody (C-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Rent1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Rent1 (C-6) antibody is available in non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Rent1 protein plays a crucial role in nonsense-mediated RNA decay (NMD), which maintains cellular integrity by preventing translation of defective mRNA transcripts that could produce truncated or harmful proteins. This mechanism is particularly important in eukaryotic cells, where detecting and degrading such transcripts helps protect organisms from potential deleterious effects. Rent1, a mammalian ortholog of Upflp, is essential for embryonic viability and features a complex structure including an N-terminal zinc finger-like domain and NTPase domains, classifying Rent1 as a member of the superfamily group I helicase. Rent1 exhibits nucleic-acid-dependent ATPase activity and 5′ to 3′ helicase activity, functioning as an RNA-binding protein whose activity is modulated by ATP. Rent1 directly interacts with Rent2, a mammalian homolog of Upf2p, and participates in interactions with other proteins, including Rent3a and Rent3b, which link splicing and NMD in the cytoplasm. Localization of Rent1 and Rent2 primarily in the cytoplasm, along with nuclear localization of Rent3b, underscores the intricate regulation of RNA metabolism and importance of these proteins in cellular homeostasis.
