    SEE ALSO...

Otospiralin Antibody (A-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Otospiralin of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Otospiralin antibody (A-12) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Otospiralin, consisting of 89 amino acids, is specifically expressed in the inner ear and is encoded by the OTOS gene. Otospiralin is synthesized by fibrocytes located in the spiral limbus and spiral ligament of the cochlea, which play a crucial role in maintaining inner ear homeostasis. Proper functioning of these fibrocytes is essential, as any impairment can lead to significant auditory dysfunction. Notably, degeneration of fibrocytes due to absence of Otospiralin has been linked to irreversible deafness in guinea pigs and moderate hearing loss in mice. Additionally, downregulation of Otospiralin can contribute to loss of function in hair cells of the inner ear, highlighting its importance in auditory health. Otospiralin is evolutionarily conserved across species, from fish to mammals, and shares homology with gag p30 core shell proteins and SARS-related type C retroviruses, with one isoform produced through alternative splicing.

What blocking solution should I use with Otospiralin (A-12): sc-393239 monoclonal antibody for Western blot?

    Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your question. We recommend blocking with Blotto (either TBS Blotto A: sc-2333 or TBS Blotto B: sc-2335). Our Western blot protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/western-immuno-blotting
