Ankyrin-1 Antibody (D-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Ankyrin-1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Ankyrin-1 is a crucial membrane protein that plays a significant role in linking the cytoskeleton to the plasma membrane, particularly in erythrocytes, cardiac and skeletal muscle, and brain tissues. Anti-Ankyrin-1 antibody (D-3) recognizes a protein structure characterized by an N-terminal domain containing multiple ankyrin repeats, a highly conserved central spectrin binding domain, and C-terminal regulatory domains that exhibit considerable variability. This structural arrangement enables Ankyrin-1 to effectively anchor integral membrane proteins to the cytoskeleton, maintaining cellular integrity and facilitating communication between the cytoskeleton and plasma membrane. Ankyrin-1 exists in various isoforms, including a full-length protein and several shorter variants, which can influence functional properties. Defects in Ankyrin-1 have been implicated in hereditary spherocytosis, a common form of hemolytic anemia, highlighting Ankyrin-1′s importance in maintaining red blood cell stability and overall health. Ankyrin-1 monoclonal antibody (D-3) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying cytoskeletal dynamics and related pathologies.
