SEE ALSO...

ACOT1/2 Antibody (E-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects acyl-CoA thioesterase 1/2 (ACOT1/2) in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ACOT1 and ACOT2 play crucial roles in lipid metabolism by catalyzing the hydrolysis of acyl-CoA to produce coenzyme A and free fatty acids, thereby regulating intracellular levels of fatty acids and acyl-CoAs, which is vital for maintaining cellular energy homeostasis and signaling pathways. Notably, ACOT1 is predominantly found in the cytoplasm as a monomer, while ACOT2 is primarily localized in the mitochondria, highlighting their distinct functional roles within the cell. The differential localization of these enzymes is significant as it suggests that they may participate in separate metabolic processes, with ACOT2 potentially influencing mitochondrial fatty acid metabolism and energy production. Additionally, ACOT2 is known to exist in multiple alternatively spliced isoforms, which may further diversify its functional capabilities and regulatory mechanisms. ACOT1/2 (E-1) antibody is an essential tool for researchers studying lipid metabolism and its implications in various physiological and pathological conditions.

Can ACOT1/2 (E-1): sc-373919 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: TinTin
Thank you for your question. Yes, ACOT1/2 (E-1): sc-373919 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
