エンドペルオキシドであるプロスタグランジンH2（PGH2）の安定なアナログ。PGIおよびトロンボキサン合成酵素の阻害剤であるが、PGI合成酵素に対する選択性が高い。ヒト包皮線維芽細胞では、U-51605は2.8 µMの濃度でPGI合成酵素を阻害する1。一方、ヒト血小板トロンボキサン合成酵素は5.6 µMの濃度で阻害される2。U-51605（0.1 µg/ml）はまた、PGH2誘発性ヒト血小板凝集を阻害する3。
