    SEE ALSO...

Glycogenin-2 Antibody (3L10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Glycogenin-2 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Glycogenin-2 antibody (3L10) is available as a non-conjugated monoclonal isotype antibody. Glycogenin-2, also known as GYG2 or GN2, is a 501 amino acid protein that belongs to the glycogenin family and exists as six alternatively spliced isoforms, designated alpha, beta, gamma, delta, epsilon, and zeta. Glycogenin-2 is primarily expressed in heart, pancreas, and liver, where Glycogenin-2 plays a crucial role as a homodimer that utilizes divalent metal ions as cofactors to catalyze self-glucosylation. This process generates an oligosaccharide primer that serves as a substrate for glycogen synthase, thereby regulating glycogen accumulation within cells. Glycogenin-2 maintains energy homeostasis, particularly in tissues with high energy demands, such as heart and skeletal muscle. The gene encoding Glycogenin-2 is located on human chromosome X, which contains nearly 153 million base pairs and houses over 1,000 genes, playing a significant role in sex determination and various genetic conditions associated with sex chromosome abnormalities, including Turner′s syndrome and Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
