経口活性型免疫調節薬で、主にマクロファージを標的とする。マクロファージTLR（toll-like receptor）4およびTLR 2/6シグナル伝達経路の阻害を介してTNF-αの分泌を抑制する。 炎症性サイトカインIL1-β、IL-10、IFN-γの分泌を抑制する。抗糖尿病作用があり、in vitroにおいてIL-βおよびIFN-γによる膵島細胞死を抑制する。
