Atg4C Antibody (287CT12.2.2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Atg4C protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). Anti-Atg4C antibody (287CT12.2.2) is available as a non-conjugated monoclonal isotype antibody. Atg4C (287CT12.2.2) monoclonal antibody recognizes ATG4 autophagy related 4 homolog C, which plays a crucial role in autophagy process, essential for cellular homeostasis and degradation of damaged organelles and proteins. This 458 amino acid tumor suppressor protein, belonging to peptidase C54 family, is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 1p31.3 and is conserved across various species, including chimpanzee, dog, cow, mouse, rat, chicken, and zebrafish. Atg4C is predominantly expressed in skeletal muscle, heart, liver, and testis, where Atg4C localizes to cytoplasm. As a cysteine protease, Atg4C is responsible for cleaving C-terminal region of proteins such as MAP1LC3, GABARAPL2, or GABARAP, thereby facilitating formation of autophagosomes. Regulation of Atg4C activity is also significant, as N-ethylmaleimide can inhibit Atg4C, highlighting Atg4C′s importance in autophagy pathway and potential implications in cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.
