QUICK LINKS

5-Pentadecylresorcinol, a naturally occurring compound found in cashew nuts, has garnered significant attention for its diverse properties. One of its notable effects is as an inhibitor of respiratory electron transport in mitochondria, resulting in the collapse of mitochondrial membrane potential and subsequent cell death. In vitro studies have revealed its potential as an anticarcinogenic agent, specifically in inhibiting the growth of colorectal adenocarcinoma cell lines. Additionally, 5-Pentadecylresorcinol exhibits antifungal activity against Candida albicans and other fungi. As a major active component in wheat bran, it demonstrates inhibitory effects on colon cancer cell growth. Furthermore, it showcases antioxidant activity and protective effects on cell viability in PC-12 AC cells.
