4-Methylumbelliferyl α-L-idopyranosiduronic acid, cyclohexylammonium saltは蛍光基質である。様々な酵素、特に糖質代謝に関与する酵素の機能性を調べるツールとして重宝されている。イドゥロニダーゼやヘパラン硫酸スルファターゼの活性を評価する基質として役立つ。4-Methylumbelliferyl α-L-idopyranosiduronic acid, cyclohexylammonium saltの作用機序は、イデュロン酸と4-methylumbelliferyl基間のグリコシド結合が、調査対象の酵素によって加水分解されることである。その結果、4-メチルウンベリフェリル基が遊離し、特定の波長の光で励起されると蛍光を発する。得られた蛍光を定量することで、酵素の活性を測定することができる。
