ヒト精漿抽出物を塩基処理すると、試料中に存在する19-ヒドロキシPGE化合物が対応するPGB化合物に変換され、強い共役ジエノンクロモフォアが生成する。この方法は、PGE定量のための迅速なUVベースの分析法を提供するために使用されている。19(R)-ヒドロキシPGB2はその化学的安定性と278nmにおける強いUV吸光度から、アラキドン酸代謝物の回収率を測定するための抽出物やHPLCの内部標準としても使用される(1,2,3)。
