myopalladin Antibody (72-J) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects myopalladin protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-myopalladin antibody (72-J) is available as a non-conjugated isotype antibody. Myopalladin, also known as MYPN or MYOP, is a crucial 1,320 amino acid protein that plays a significant role in muscle function by localizing to both the cytoplasm and nucleus. Myopalladin is a member of the myotilin/palladin family and is predominantly expressed in fetal heart and adult skeletal muscle, where myopalladin serves as a vital structural component of the sarcomere, effectively tethering both skeletal and cardiac muscle to α-actinin. Myopalladin features five immunoglobulin-like domains and is anchored within the central I-band region and at the Z-line periphery of the sarcomere. Proper functioning of myopalladin is essential for maintaining sarcomeric integrity, as overexpression can lead to disruptions in sarcomeric function. Notably, defects in the gene encoding myopalladin have been linked to idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), a condition characterized by an enlarged heart that fails to function effectively. Additionally, three isoforms of myopalladin arise from alternative splicing events, further underscoring the complexity and importance of myopalladin in muscle physiology.
