α-Adaptin 2 Activators

α-Adaptin 2 activators represent a diverse collection of chemicals with the shared function of upregulating expression of the clathrin adaptor protein α-Adaptin 2. While differing in structure, these activators converge on the ability to stimulate α-Adaptin 2 gene transcription through direct or indirect mechanisms. Many α-Adaptin 2 activators mediate their effects by binding to intracellular receptors that recruit transcriptional cofactors. This remodeling of chromatin architecture at the α-Adaptin 2 locus allows increased binding of transcriptional machinery and elevated mRNA production. Alternatively, certain activators mobilize signaling pathways that feedback on gene regulation through phosphorylation of transcription factors.

In other cases, activators may exert influences in more circuitous fashions by disrupting cellular processes involved in controlling α-Adaptin 2 expression. Modulation of epigenetic modifiers, stress responses, or basic homeostatic pathways could secondarily modulate transcriptional regulatory events of the α-Adaptin 2 gene.
