MG-115 is a potent, reversible proteasome inhibitor. MG-115 specifically inhibits the chymotrypsin-like activity of the proteasome. MG-115 is an inhibitor of 20S Proteasome and 26S Proteasome. It has been shown to induce apoptosis in Rat-1 and PC12 cells via a p53-dependent pathway. The ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS) and autophagy serve as two complementary, reciprocally regulated protein degradation systems, thus blockade of UPS by MG-115 activates autophagy.
