



CUG-BP1 Antibody (1.T.9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects CUG-BP1 in mouse, rat, human, bovine, and porcine samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CUG-BP1 plays a crucial role in the regulation of RNA splicing and translation, particularly in the context of myotonic dystrophy, a neuromuscular disorder characterized by a (CTG)n repeat expansion in the myotonin protein kinase gene (DMPK). CUG-BP1 is primarily located in the nucleus, where CUG-BP1 binds to CUG repeat sequences, influencing the expression of key regulatory proteins such as p21. Nuclear localization of CUG-BP1 is vital for function, as nuclear positioning allows for precise modulation of mRNA processing and translation in response to cellular signals. Under normal physiological conditions, CUG-BP1 enhances the translation of p21, promoting cell cycle progression and differentiation. However, in myotonic dystrophy, altered binding activity of CUG-BP1 due to expanded CUG repeats leads to a significant reduction in p21 levels, contributing to the disease′s characteristic muscle weakness and atrophy.
