LGR5 Activators

Common LGR5 Activators include, but are not limited to Retinoic Acid, all trans CAS 302-79-4, Lithium Chloride CAS 7447-41-8, Butyric acid CAS 107-92-6, Genistein CAS 446-72-0 and Quercetin CAS 117-39-5.

LGR5, or Leucine-rich repeat-containing G-protein coupled receptor 5, is a cell surface protein that plays a significant role in various cellular processes, especially in the context of stem cell biology. Identified as a marker for adult stem cells in multiple tissues, LGR5 is most prominently associated with the Wnt signaling pathway, a crucial regulator of stem cell maintenance, differentiation, and proliferation. The activation of LGR5 by its ligands is known to potentiate Wnt/β-catenin signaling, a pathway intricately involved in embryonic development, tissue homeostasis, and regeneration. LGR5-positive stem cells are notably found in the intestine, where they contribute to the rapid and constant turnover of the intestinal epithelium, as well as in other tissues including the stomach, hair follicles, and liver.

LGR5 Activators are compounds specifically formulated to elevate the activity or expression of LGR5. By enhancing the activation of LGR5, these molecules could amplify the downstream Wnt/β-catenin signaling, thereby promoting stem cell proliferation, differentiation, or survival. Activators could act by increasing the affinity of LGR5 for its natural ligands, by stabilizing the receptor in its active conformation, or by upregulating its expression on the cell surface. Given LGR5's pivotal role in stem cell biology and tissue regeneration, activators targeting this receptor could have profound implications for understanding the dynamics of tissue maintenance and repair. Delving into the effects of modulating LGR5 activity can offer valuable insights into cellular processes and pave the way for future investigations in stem cell biology and regenerative medicine.
