MAG Antibody (G-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects myelin-associated glycoprotein (MAG) in mouse, rat, and human samples through western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MAG is a crucial cell-surface adhesion protein in the nervous system, primarily located on the surface of myelinating glial cells, where MAG plays a vital role in the interaction between glial cells and neuronal axons. This localization facilitates the formation and maintenance of myelin sheaths, which are essential for proper conduction of electrical impulses along axons. By linking glial cells to axons, MAG (G-11) antibody supports the structural integrity of the nervous system and contributes to the regulation of axonal growth and repair. MAG has been shown to inhibit axonal outgrowth, a function counteracted by neurotrophins such as brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF), which enhance neuronal survival and promote regeneration. Anti-MAG antibody (G-11) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying myelination, neuronal development, and mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases.
