Galectin-7 Antibody (D-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects galectin-7 in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Galectin-7 is a member of the galectin family, which consists of soluble β-galactoside-binding lectins that play crucial roles in cellular processes such as cell adhesion, apoptosis, and tumor progression. Notably, galectin-7 is primarily expressed in stratified squamous epithelium and is known for its pro-apoptotic function, acting upstream of c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) activation and cytochrome c release, which are critical events in the apoptotic pathway. Regulation of galectin-7 is tightly controlled, as galectin-7 is activated by p53 and repressed by retinoic acid, highlighting its importance in maintaining cellular homeostasis and responding to stress signals. The galectin-7 gene is located on chromosome 19, and galectin-7 expression patterns and interactions with other proteins underscore its significance in various physiological and pathological processes, making anti-galectin-7 antibody (D-5) an essential tool for researchers studying apoptosis and cancer biology.
