DICA is an inhibitor of caspase-3 and caspase-7 binding to an allosteric site and not to the active site. Caspases are proteins that are critical to regulating the apoptotic pathway. These proteins cleave enzymes and proteins that are necessary for cell survival, in turn inducing apoptosis.
