Zaragozic acid A is a potent inhibitor of mammalian, fungal and Saccharomyces cervisiae squalene synthase. As a squalene synthase inhibitor, zaragozic acid has been shown to produce lower plasma cholesterol levels in primates.
Soluble in ethanol (10 mg/ml), methanol, DMF, DMSO (10 mg/ml), and water (moderate).
