Melittin, an antibacterial originally derived from Apis mellifera, has been reported to cause apoptosis via induction of reactive oxygen species production in cells. Additionally, this compound has been found to suppress 4α-Phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (sc-202021) induced invasion of proliferative cells via inhibition of activator protein-1 and NF-κB. Other experiments show Melittin to be able to also suppress PMA-induced phosphorylation of ERK and JNK mitogen-activated protein kinases. This compound also activates phospholipase A2 (PLA2).

Just I wanted to ask if the Melittin (CAS 37231-28-0) is obtained from synthesis of from bee venom (by extortion).
Thanks in advance

Thank you very much for your question. The sc-200868 is derived from chemycal synthesis with the sequence Gly-Ile-Gly-Ala-Val-Leu-Lys-Val-Leu-Thr-Thr-Gly-Leu-Pro-Ala-Leu-Ile-Ser-Trp-Ile-Lys-Arg-Lys-Arg-Gln-Gln-NH2.
