Ivermectin aglycone is a semi-synthetic produced by the hydrolysis of the disaccharide unit of ivermectin. This product is shown to be a potent inhibitor of nematode larval development but is devoid of paralytic activity. The aglycone has been shown to be used as a sensitive probe for the detection of some types of ivermectin resistance.
