Hassallidin A is a broad spectrum antifungal compound with activity against Candida, Acremonium, Cryptococcus neoformans, Trichosporon, Aspergillus, Fusarium sambucium (minimal inhibition concentration (MIC) range: 4-16 μg/ml). Hassallidin A shows moderate activity against cancerous cells (Jurkat ATCC-TIB-152, L 929), but no antibacterial activity (Bacillus subtilis, Streptomyces versicolor, Escherichia coli).
