Gelatin is used for preparing slides for histochemistry and light microscope autoradiography. Gelatin has also been added to cell culture plates and improves the attachment of a variety of cell types. Additionally, gelatin can inhibit crystallization in bacteriology studies.
Soluble in water (50 mg/ml), glycerol, and acetic acid.
