Boc-L-aspartic acid beta-benzyl ester chloromethylketone is cell penetrable. This inhibitor has been shown to bind covalently to the active site of ICE, reducing ICE-mediated processing of mature interleukin-1β in a monocytic cell line without affecting tumor necrosis factor processing.
