I have a vial of (β-Actin Antibody (C4): sc-47778) the lot number for the vial is (J1113). I couldn't find any expiration date for the product. could you tell me what is the expiration date and also I need to mention, we kept it in 4c. Thanks

Asked by: Mehran
Thank you for your question. We do not provide expiration dates for our antibody or chemical products. Instead, we provide all of our products with a 1-year warranty from the date of shipment. This product was produced at the end of 2013, but as long as it has been stored at 4˚C, it should be fine to still use. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our Technical Service department.

what is the secondary antibody dilution?

Asked by: lee66
Thank you for your inquiry. The dilution to use for the secondary depends on which secondary reagent you are working with, and for what application you are using it for. Generally, we say to do a titration to find the optimal conditions, but since this is a very strong primary antibody, I would recommend starting the anti-mouse secondary at 1:2000, and optimizing further from that point, depending on results. Can I use this mouse monoclonal antibody for immunohistochemical staining of mouse tissue?

Asked by: cjMara
Yes. We recommend using a directly conjugated mouse monoclonal primary antibody. This mouse monoclonal antibody, β-Actin Antibody (C4): sc-47778, is currently available conjugated to HRP (sc-47778 HRP), phycoerythrin (sc-47778 PE), fluorescein (sc-47778 FITC), Alexa Fluor® 488 (sc-47778 AF488), Alexa Fluor® 647 (sc-47778 AF647), and biotin (sc-47778 B).

I am using sc-47778 , but i am getting many bands at different M.W., what can the problem be ?

Asked by: Soumya Ganguly
Thank you for your question. That is a very surprising result, as this is one of our most popular loading control antibodies against Beta Actin. Non-specific binding can result from different variables and there are a lot of different options for troubleshooting. We recommend blocking and diluting your primary and secondary antibodies in 5% nonfat milk + TBST. We also recommend using an appropriate secondary antibody from SCBT, and including a secondary control (incubated without primary antibody) to try and identify if the non-specific bands are due to your secondary antibody alone. I am providing a link below to our recommended protocol for Western blotting. If you still need help, please contact our Technical Service Department by phone (our Asian office toll-free number is 800-820-8626), by e-mail, asia@scbio.cn, or by live chat. https://www3.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/western-immuno-blotting

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works great This conjugated antibody works great and saves time. However, greatly reduce the concentration when loading high amounts of protein or bands are too fat and you burn your blot.
