Synthalin sulfate is a competitive antagonist of the NMDA (N-methyl-D-aspartate) receptor polyamine site. The compound reduces proton inhibition of isolated NMDA (N-methyl-D-aspartate) channels and may have more that one binding site. Data shows that polyamines have been found to reduce proton inhibition of isolated NMDA (N-methyl-D-aspartate) channels in vitro.
