Z-L-Abu-CONH-ethyl is a cell-permeable dipeptidyl α-ketoamide that acts as a potent, reversible, and active site inhibitor of calpain-1 and calpain-2 (Ki ~ 250 nM). At 10-fold higher concentration it also inhibits cathepsin B (Ki = 2.4 μM). Has been shown to have a neuroprotective role in the central nervous system following focal ischemia.

PMID: 8230139 PMID: 8014200 PMID: 9469575 PMID: 25709452 It is recommended to use solutions the same day they are made. If a solution needs to be stored, we recommend to aliquot into useable amounts and freeze. Multiple freeze/thaw cycles should be avoided.
