    SEE ALSO...

UBC8 Antibody (E-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects UBC8 protein of mouse and rat origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). UBC8 (E-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. UBC8, also known as ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme 8, plays a crucial role in the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway, which is essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis by regulating protein degradation. UBC8 is primarily located in the cytoplasm and is particularly enriched in the central nervous system, where UBC8 is involved in the degradation of misfolded or damaged proteins, thereby preventing the accumulation of potentially toxic aggregates. UBC8 interacts with several key proteins, including Parkin, a RING-finger protein associated with familial Parkinson′s disease, and other E3 ligases such as the human homolog of Drosophila ariadne (HHARI) and UBC7-associated protein (H7-AP1). UBC8′s ability to form thioester bonds with ubiquitin in an E1-dependent manner is vital for tagging substrates for proteasomal degradation, highlighting UBC8′s importance in cellular quality control mechanisms.
