QUICK LINKS

Sarafloxacin hydrochloride is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that functions by inhibiting the bacterial DNA gyrase enzyme, thereby preventing the supercoiling of DNA and ultimately disrupting the replication and transcription processes in susceptible bacteria. This disruption leads to the accumulation of double-stranded breaks in the bacterial DNA, resulting in cell death. This mechanism of action effectively hinders the growth and proliferation of susceptible bacterial pathogens.
