Salsolidine is a tetrahydroisoquinoline isolated from plants of the genus Salsola. Tetrahydroisoquinolines are steroselective competitive inhibitors of the enzyme monoamine oxidase. They are also a competitive inhibitors of catechol-O-methyltransferase.
