SEE ALSO...

RSAD2 Antibody (G-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 kappa light chain antibody that detects RSAD2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-RSAD2 antibody (G-8) is available as the non-conjugated monoclonal isotype antibody. RSAD2, also known as Radical S-adenosyl methionine domain-containing protein 2, CIG5, vig1, viperin, or CIG33, is a 361 amino acid protein that plays a critical role in the antiviral defense mechanism of cells against various pathogens, including Hepatitis C, Cytomegalovirus, and HIV-1. RSAD2 is primarily localized to the cytosolic side of the endoplasmic reticulum, where RSAD2 is strategically positioned to respond to viral infections by relocating to the Golgi apparatus. This relocation is significant as RSAD2 disrupts lipid rafts at the plasma membrane, thereby preventing viral budding and supporting the interferon-induced antiviral state of the cell. RSAD2 has been shown to interact with and inactivate farnesyl diphosphate synthase (FDPS), an enzyme essential for cholesterol synthesis and the production of geranylated and farnesylated proteins, which are vital for various cellular functions. RSAD2 overexpression can lead to abnormal lipid accumulation, a condition associated with atherosclerosis, a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by the hardening of arteries.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-390342 P appropriate for?

Asked by: cjMara
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok for WBWestern blot Band of mouse sample is faint but detectable

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Antibody does not workThis antibody recognizes an unknown protein at a similar size as Viperin. Viperin is an interferon-inducible gene whose basal expression is low and is highly upregulated upon IFN treatment. Instead, this antibody recognizes a protein whose expression is consistently high regardless of IFN treatment. I also confirmed my blots using an RSAD2 antibody from a different vendor which demonstrated clear IFN inducibility.
