I am using Rab 7 Antibody (D-4) for Western blot. How do I know if the band I am detecting is specific?

Thank you for your question. We recommend using the blocking peptide sc-271608 P as a negative control. Antibody binding to antigen may be blocked/competed by pre-absorption with the blocking peptide. The antibody can weakly detect the existence while products from Cell Signalling can be 10 times sensitive. I used 1/200 dilution. After checking molecular weight, it even does not recognize the right band.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Detect the faintest star in the galaxy of proteins This is an extraordinary antibody for detecting endocytic vesicle by Immunofluorescence. I have used the antibody (1:100) for detecting some late endosomal vesicles in a human carcinoma cell line and got satisfied by the specificity of the antibody and the clarity of the florescence signal (see the attached picture). Such a nice antibody, it will help you paint the endosomal vesicles with your choice of colour. So use it as long as you can and get good science out of it. Good luck with your research
