OSU 03012 is a potent inhibitor of PDK1 (IC50 = 5 μM). OSU 03012 causes a dose-dependent induction of cell death regardless of the presence or absence of mutated p53. Studies have shown that upon treatment of cells with OSU 03012 there is an accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the cell, which may contribute to cell death through oxidative damage. Exposure to ionizing radiation following treatment with OSU 03012 causes an increase in cell death, which is also caspase-independent.
Soluble in DMSO (11 mg/ml at 25 °C), water (<1 mg/ml at 25 °C), ethanol (<1 mg/ml at 25 °C), and 0.5% methylcellulose/0.2% Tween 80 (30 mg/ml at 25 °C).

Mohr et alMohr et al. (PubMed ID 25986249) found that OSU-03012 inhibited the replication of Lassa, Ebola, Marburg and Nipah viruses via 3-phosphinositide-dependent protein kinase 1 (PDK-1) activation and induction of apoptosis. -SCBT Publication Review
