MYL2 Antibody (7C9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MYL2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-MYL2 antibody (7C9) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MYL2 protein, also known as myosin regulatory light chain 2, ventricular/cardiac muscle isoform, plays a crucial role in cardiac muscle contraction by regulating the interaction between myosin and actin filaments in the heart. This regulation is vital for maintaining proper cardiac function and contractility, as MYL2 allows for precise control of muscle contraction in response to calcium levels. MYL2 protein is predominantly expressed in adult cardiac ventricle muscle, where MYL2 forms part of a hexameric complex with two heavy chains and four light chains. Notably, co-expression of MYL2 with myosin regulatory light chain 7 (MYL7) in specific regions of the heart aids in delineating cardiac chamber boundaries, which is essential for normal heart development and function. Additionally, mutations in MYL2 gene have been linked to mid-left ventricular chamber type hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy type 10, highlighting MYL2′s importance in cardiovascular health. At the amino acid level, there is a remarkable 96% homology between human and mouse MYL2 sequences, making MYL2 (7C9) antibody a valuable tool for studying cardiac function across different species.
