MMP-12 Antibody (A-2) is a high quality monoclonal MMP-12 antibody (also designated MMP12 antibody) suitable for the detection of the MMP-12 protein of human origin. MMP-12 Antibody (A-2) is available as both the non-conjugated anti-MMP-12 antibody form, as well as multiple conjugated forms of anti-MMP-12 antibody, including agarose, HRP, PE, FITC and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The matrix metalloproteinases (MMP) are a family of peptidase enzymes responsible for the degradation of extracellular matrix components, including collagen, gelatin, fibronectin, laminin and proteoglycan. Transcription of MMP genes is differentially activated by phorbol ester, lipopolysaccharide (LPS) or staphylococcal enterotoxin B (SEB). MMP catalysis requires both calcium and zinc. MMP-12 (also designated macrophage metalloelastase) is produced in alveolar macrophages and degrades elastin. MMP-12 may contribute to elastin degradation occurring in granulomatous skin diseases and may also participate in macrophage migration through the epidermal and vascular basement membranes in inflammatory disorders.

What blocking solution should I use with MMP-12 (A-2): sc-133151 monoclonal antibody for Western blot?
Asked by: Dr Ninau Qelp
Thank you for your question. We recommend blocking with Blotto (either TBS Blotto A: sc-2333 or TBS Blotto B: sc-2335). Our Western blot protocol can be found here:
