M344 is a potent HDAC inhibitor (IC50 = 100 nM), with selectivity for HDAC6 over HDAC1. M344 induces terminal cell differentiation and causes an increase in hyperacetylated histone H4. It also induces cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in human endometrial and ovarian cancer cells.
