L-p-Bromotetramisole (Oxalate) is an inhibitor of non-specific alkaline phosphatase, comparable in activity to the vanadium compound Orthovanadate (sc-3540). L-p-Bromotetramisole shows no inhibition of specific phosphatase activity, and the D- enantiomer shows no inhibitory effects against either phosphatase. The activity of tyrosine phosphatases is also reported to be inhibited by L-p-Bromotetramisole and related compounds.
