L-CCG-I is a potent group II mGluR agonist and is more active than glutamate or (±)-trans-ACPD (sc-202367). Group II (mGluR-2 and mGluR-3) metabotropic glutamate receptors are coupled to Gi/0 which in turn inhibits adenylyl cyclase, decreasing the formation of cAMP.
