Hadacidin was initially extracted from Penicillium frequentans cultures. Structurally, it falls under the categories of monocarboxylic acid, N-hydroxy-alpha-amino-acid, and aldehyde. Notably, hadacidin functions as an inhibitor of AMP synthesis and demonstrates anticancer activity, along with its analogues, by targeting adenylosuccinate synthetase.
