Gemcitabine Monophosphate Formate Salt is a deoxycytidine analog which acts as an anticancer agent. It is believed that Gemcitabine Monophosphate Formate Salt functions by incorporating itself in the DNA of the cell and blocking DNA polymerases. Gemcitabine Monophosphate Formate Salt also inhibits ribonucleotide reductase via irreversibly binding to the enzymes active site. This inhibition stops the production of deoxyribonucleotides and so DNA replication ceases.
